Ask Mike - Nov. 11, 2001

From Hirokazu Maura in Osaka,

Hi! Mike!! Please answer me!!!
You must be working out hard even during the off-season. Your body seems to be getting more muscles every year. What kind of advantages do you think you will have with more build up body as PG during the games?
Please remember that you have big fans in Japan, too =)
I went to see your game twice last year including one trip with only 1 night in Vancouver!

I put a lot of work in during the summer. Lifting weights is a big part of it. It gives me more strength on my shooting and driving. I hope you get to come to Sacramento. Talk to you later Hirokazu.

From Brad & Byron Lukso in Arizona,

Me and my twin brother are Mike Bibby fans who used to live in Tucson, Arizona. I know that you were definitely the best point guard in the college game when you played for the Wildcats. Do you think you have a chance to become the best all-around point guard in the NBA, with your new opportunity in Sacramento?

There are a lot of great PG's in the league. My only concern is to be a PG that helps Sac win games.

From Kylie Berryman, 16, Surrey, British Columbia

Hey Mike, well this year's definately gonna be a downer for me not having N.B.A basketball in Vancouver, but I'm extremely excited for you. You really deserve the chance to play with a playoff caliber team, and I'm glad you're finally getting that opportunity, even though I'm not gonna be able to come see you play in Vancouver any more:( Anyways, I just wanted to know if you enjoyed your time in Vancouver, and what did you think was the best part about the grizzlies, even though it may be tough. Thanks for giving the grizzlies some life, and thanks for signin' a couple pics of you for me at one of the games. I'll never forget those moments, and I look forward to watching you have a great season!!! Love ya :)

I miss the fans like you the most in Vancouver. Thanks for wishing me the best with my new team. See ya around.

From Catherine, 15 in Vancouver

I love watching you play basketball!!!! As a fan from Vancouver, I'm really gonna miss you and the Grizzlies!! It's really sad, but I'm glad you're with Sacramento cuz I know you'll do awesome there....so my question is what do you miss most about Vancouver? Also, I'm curious to know what your favourite food is and what your favourite restaurant is! =) Thanx a bunch!!! And by the way, your kids are sooo adorable! =) Bye!!!!

My favorite food is a West Indian meal called 'Roti', that my mom makes for me. It is curry potatoes and chicken wrapped in a homenmade tortilla. I like Hard Rock Cafe and Uncle Sam's in Arizona. Thanks for the compliment, I love my kids too. Bye.

From Kathy S,

I'm a big fan of yours. You could ask anybody! I hope you do well in Sac but I really hope you come back to Vancouver also. My question is how could a small player defend/go against a bigger player. I'm the shortest one on my team and its got its advantages but how could I improve? Thanks for your time. Vancouver Grizzlies fan for always!

Push ups and sit ups will help. Use your quickness. Don't let them dribble against you. Make sure your teammates help and make sure you help them.

From Takeshi Isono in Japan,

Hi Mike,
How are things going with you? I am Takeshi, sending this mail from Japan. Last year, I was an exchange student in Vancouver and went almost every grizzlies game. Actually, I got your autograph on your official photo on April 1 at the GM place, you were so kind and that was enough for me to get crazy about your play. And now you moved to Sacramento. When I heard that news I was so happy because Sacramento is one of my favorite teams, and I think you would get a lot of chance to become real superstar with your great teammates. Moreover, there must be many broadcasts of Kings game this year here in Japan compare to other teams, so this is also a good deal even for me. and here are my questions:
1 - How do you think that which team is the nearest to the NBA champion
other than the Kings?
2 Who is the funniest person in the Kings?
Anyway, I hope this coming season will be the best one ever for you Aand I believe the Kings will be the world champion of this season.

Hi Takeshi I think the Lakers are still the team to beat. I have a lot of funny teammates, and they're all cool to hang around. You're right, this is a great team.

From Goran, 20, in Toronto:

Hey Mike , how's it going man ?
I was wondering how you get along with your new teammates, in particular Pedja and Vlade ? I'm looking forward to seeing you play in the most exciting team in the NBA ... the best of luck from me, and I'll see you in Toronto.

Thanks Goran, I get along fine with Vlade and Pedja. They are very friendly.

From "Opits"

I'm a huge fan of the Kings and a huge fan of basketball. I am so excited that you are with the Kings I feel you can do a lot for them. Congratulations on your win against the Lakers, that was awesome! Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching more of you and the Sacramento Kings. TAKE EM ALL THE WAY!

I assume you're talking about the exhibition win over the Lakers. Let's hope we can do that in the regular season. I'll do all I can to beat them.
